Towards Regional Landfill "KALENIC"

Waste management on the territory of the Kolubara District and organized waste disposal is not solved and represent the problem for 20 000 citizens, since the existing dumps are overloaded, full and they pollute the land, air and water.

National strategy of the Ministry of the Environment defined the regional landfill "Kalenic", which will solve the problem of waste disposal on the territory of the Kolubara District. That strategy specifies that the municipalities outside the Kolubara District use the capacities of the future regional landfill "Kalenic".

It is of great importance that the decision makers (The Council of the Direction for the Construction of the Kolubara District responsible for the implementation of this project, the City of Valjevo, Municipalities Ub, Mionica, Ljig, Lajkovac, Osecina) are activated in the period to come in order to begin with the construction and that the project is implemented in the foreseeable period, so that the solution for this problem could be created in the next few decades.

For that reason, we planned to organize two round tables on which in the local-local dialogue on 12 November, 2009 at 11 o'clock, will gather relevant decision makers to confirm the fact that Regional landfill "Kalenic" is the solution for waste management on the territory of the municiplities of Kolubra District. The second round table, local-national dialogue, will be organized with the participation of the interested local self-governments and representatives of the responsible Ministry, on 13 November, 2009 in the City Hall, starting at 12 o'clock.

The supporting manifestation "The winter comes without landfill" will be held on the central square on 13 November 2009 at 11 o'clock, in order to warn and invite the citizens to join us in the fight for solving this problem, while the recycling yard would have the role to show the advantages of the selected waste.
